Trauma Response Training
CVVC offers training to allied professional and community members on the identification of trauma symptoms, as well as the impact of trauma on individuals and communities. CVVC uses the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) model of training and intervention, which addresses crisis reactions, effective intervention, long-term stress reactions and care for local caregivers.
As part of CVVC's training, individuals and communities are assisted with identifying faith-based, mental health-based and victim assistance-based organizations, which practice and provide trauma-sensitive support and guidance.
Trauma Response Trainings are offered in a variety of time frames depending on the needs of the organization or community. Three-hour trainings are provided for groups who require basic information about the impacts of trauma. Daylong trainings can be developed for groups regarding a specific traumatic experience, or issues unique to their professional or community setting. Once a year, CVVC provides a 40-hour, 5-day, NOVA Community Crisis Response Training.
