Title: Trainer/ Community Educator
Classification: Full Time/Non-Exempt
Reports To: Associate Director of Programs and Services
Overview
The Trainer/Educator is responsible for marketing, developing and conducting educational programs
and trainings in violence prevention including but not limited to sexual assault prevention, elder abuse,
safety planning, grief, conflict resolution, mediation and other professional violence prevention education
topic areas to fulfill CVVC’s mission. Responsibility also includes providing educational programs to schools,
workplaces and communities. The Trainer/Community Educator will assist in victim assistance and in-service training as required to keep staff current on issues of violence prevention.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide educational outreach to organizations and communities interested in sexual assault prevention and intervention.
• Receive and process requests for education programs or information
• Research current trends in sexual assault awareness and prevention as well as elder abuse prevention and safety planning.
• Research training resources on victimization and violence prevention issues.
• Assist in developing and maintaining the standardized training core curricula as well as developing new curricula.
• Assist in development of agency publications including maintenance of agency information packets.
• Assist in managing current agency library tapes and film equipment while researching new materials.
• Participate as a trainer for Victim Assistance training.
• Provide in-service trainings for staff to update on changes in legislation or best practices related to violence prevention.
• Assist in providing presentations to professionals including law enforcement, caseworkers, therapists, medical personnel, victim service providers, students, and communities.
• Provide support and referral resources through assigned programs in schools, the County and City programs.
• Maintain a strict timeline for educational and training programs by scheduling, delivering and obtaining evaluations at the completion of all programs
• Assist in the development and maintenance of existing relationships with training clients, additional trainers and other clients.
• Assist in developing and implementing and promoting an annual marketing plan, strategy and promotional materials for training and related mediation services.
• Serve as a spokesperson for the Training Department when requested
• Assist supervisory staff in planning and coordinating agency or outside conferences and Information fairs.
• Assist with the development and production of CVVC’s weekly radio show
• When necessary, assist with the Community Victim Awareness Curriculum and other Restorative Justice programs
• When necessary, assist with facilitation, coaching and other related services as assigned.
• Conduct client interviews for participation in training services.
• Track all client and volunteer activity and maintain the program related databases with current and accurate information.
• Collect and compile data for statistical reports and generate reports as scheduled or requested to the Associate Director of Programs and Services.
• Insure the confidentiality of all client communications.
• Participate in all staff meetings and trainings as assigned.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in social services, education or a related field.
• If not an experienced mediator, will complete the minimum of 39 hours of training in conflict resolution and mediation skills within the first six months of employment.
• Strong communication skills and confidence in public speaking before both large and small groups.
• Training experience and ability to educate using multiple learning styles and communicate with diverse constituencies including sensitivity to individuals victimized or experiencing a wide range of emotional responses to violence and crime.
• A working knowledge of the components of the criminal justice system, comprehensive victim services and victim assistance information.
• Successful completion of required VAT training.
• Knowledge of volunteer management and supervision experience preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong computer and database skills.
• Support organization’s mission along with sensitivity of cultural diversity and workplace harmony.
• Self directed, flexible with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Must be able to pass Act 33 and 34 clearances.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
• Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
• Access to a personal cell phone.

Title: Counselor Advocate – Juvenile Court
Classification: Full Time/Non-Exempt
Reports To: Advocacy Supervisor – Juvenile Court
Overview
A Juvenile Court Counselor Advocate provides counseling, crisis intervention, mandated and supportive services to CVVC clients within the Juvenile Court System. The Juvenile Court Counselor Advocate also provides education and assistance as to other various systems clients may encounter. The Juvenile Court Counselor Advocate supports and empowers victims and/or witnesses in their personal decision making process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling to victims, witnesses and significant others of violent crime via phone, hospital visit, home, office or other designated locations as needed.
• Educate clients, both victims and witnesses with accurate information about the Juvenile Court System and process, their legal rights and Victim Rights.
• Educates victims and witnesses as to the basic principles of BARJ philosophy.
• Provide psycho-educational information to clients on the impacts of violence and trauma.
• Serve as the CVVC liaison to various systems within the Juvenile Court System and obtain early referrals of victims and provide subsequent outreach to the referred victims.
• Based on an assessments of the clients’ needs offer supportive counseling via court accompaniment to victims, witnesses and significant others.
• Provide individual and personal advocacy on behalf of the victims, witnesses and significant others throughout all relevant systems such as the medical, legal and court systems including providing information.
• Serve as a member of a Community Crisis Response Team as assigned.
• Conducts CISP exit interviews for juvenile offenders and co-facilitating Victim Awareness Curriculum programs.
• Provide Help Line and Emergency Advocacy coverage during assigned shifts or on-call rotation. Position will provide assessment of situation and determination of the appropriate response including crisis intervention, information and internal or external referrals. Emergency Advocacy may entail emergency room visits, police interviews and home visits, etc.
• Work in close cooperation with Juvenile Court staff, Assistant District Attorneys assigned to Juvenile court and CVVC staff to ensure the highest quality of services to victims and witnesses of juvenile offenders.
• Participate in the coverage of the sign-in desk; including greeting victims, witnesses and significant others and signing them in, helping assign cases/county rooms to other staff members, completing victim/witness fee vouchers, etc.
• Participate in preparing for the next court day, including organizing petitions and court dockets, retrieving mail, petitions from mailroom, copying documents needed and used by the unit.
• Provide system advocacy on local and state levels on behalf of CVVC clients.
• Utilizing case management standards assess the clients’ needs; provide appropriate internal and external referrals including follow-up services.
• Provide and contribute to all assigned reports, grants and statistics as required by CVVC and/or the various funding sources.
• Provide timely and accurate client intakes, direct service logs and reports utilizing CVVC established MIS reporting systems.
• Participates as an active member with all client focused staffings, trainings, in-services, and team and agency meetings.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, or a related field or an Associate’s degree in the same fields with three years minimum related work.
• Prior experience in the social services, criminal justice system or victim services a plus.
• Strong communication, crisis response and presentation skills.
• Ability to secure Act 33 and 34 clearances.
• A readily available personal means of transportation.
• Access to a cellular phone required for safety and immediate business communication needs.
• Able to serve as a liaison between clients, the criminal justice and juvenile justice systems and appropriate service providers.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Skilled in MS Access, Word and possess the ability to learn the State and County’s various software reporting programs.
• Support the organization’s mission along with sensitivity of cultural diversity and workplace harmony.
• Self directed and flexible to meet the needs of the program.
