Members of CVVC's Peace Advocate Volunteer Network reach out to victims, their families and the communities of Allegheny County in ways employees cannot. They are the extra eyes and ears of CVVC, educating and referring their friends, families, neighbors and community members for direct services and educational trainings. Peace Advocates enhance CVVC's ability to achieve the mission of "helping individuals, families and communities survive the trauma of violence and crime by offering advocacy services, crisis intervention, counseling and community education programs that address the causes and impacts of violence." They serve in our offices, at information and community fairs, at community functions and other public events doing public speaking, distributing materials and making appropriate referrals to the agency.
To become a member of the Peace Advocate Volunteer Network, please call 412.482.3240 for more information. CVVC will file a child abuse clearance and criminal background check for each applicant, and 45-hour training is required and must be completed before any client contact is permitted.
